Our roots in the construction industry date back to our grandfather, James Butler, who was a home builder in up-state New York. Two of his sons, Jim and Gary Butler started their construction careers with their father in that business. With ambitions outside of home building, Jim and Gary left their small hometown in the late 1960’s and 70’s, respectfully, and ended up working with a growing and reputable commercial concrete company in Cleveland, Ohio.
Patrick Butler, son of Jim Butler, attended the University of Cincinnati and, upon returning back to Cleveland, continued as a union concrete laborer, a job he first started when he was still in school.
In February of 2001, Patrick decided to go out on his own and “make a go of it,” forming 21st Century Concrete Construction, Inc.
At first, the company was no more than simply one person who worked as a concrete laborer by day, bidding small commercial projects by night out of a small spare bedroom.
In about a month, the first call back on a bid finally came in, and on a borrowed cell phone no less. After a scope review, 21st had their first real job working on an elementary school addition.
Since those humble beginnings in 2001, 21st Century Concrete has grown and evolved from that one bedroom office, to its present day 28,000 sq. ft. headquarters. The rest is history.
We continue to grow, learn and improve on a daily basis. We don’t believe in staying stagnant and continually strive to become the best we can be.
